Finding old photos
Find photos without tagging them.
Most studios find old photos in one of three ways: browsing folders and file names, using photo-library software that asks someone to upload and tag every image, or asking whoever remembers. Vispull reads the photos where they already are and describes each one, so you search by what's in the picture and nobody has to tag.
Three ways, side by side.
| Folders and file names | Photo-library software | Vispull | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where the photos live | Your Drive, Dropbox or server | Copied into the software | Stay in your Drive or Dropbox |
| Who labels them | Whoever names the file | Someone tags each photo | Vispull describes each one |
| How you search | Folder and file names | The tags someone added | Describe it, say it, or show a photo |
| Setting up | Nothing new | Upload and tag the archive | Connect a folder; indexing runs on its own |
| Sharing with clients, approvals | |||
| Price | Included with your storage | Often quoted on request | US$18 or US$150 a month, published |
When photo-library software is the better fit.
If you need to share approved images with clients, manage usage rights, or run approvals, photo-library software does that and Vispull doesn't. Vispull is for finding the picture: describe it, say it, or show a similar one, in the Drive or Dropbox you already use.
What the description covers.
For each image, Vispull writes what's in it, notes its materials and colours and any visible text, and reads the date and place saved in the file. That's what you search, in your own words.
